Every Sunday, during both services, infants and toddlers are lovingly cared for in our nursery. We have volunteers who assist in our nursery taking care of our precious babies and toddlers. Working with our youngest children at Grace is a blessing that these volunteers hold dear to their hearts.

Calling all Fantasy Football Enthusiasts! (and anyone else who loves the game of football and is interested in getting together with a bunch of like-minded men). Grace Men's Ministry presents the Grace Fantasy Football League (FFL), organizing now for our inaugural season and looking for interested pro football fans. What is FFL? We draft real players from the NFL to form our own “franchises” and then play a regular season schedule against each other with results based upon how our players do statistically each Sunday versus our opponent. Make trades and waiver moves to build your own dynasty! Have a great year and move on to the FFL playoffs! Bucs fans - ever thought you could do it better than Bruce Allen? Here's your chance to prove it.
This is the perfect chance to get to know other guys at Grace using a forum you already love - professional football. Contact Andy Schutte if you are interested - at schuttecrew@hotmail.com.

What can Missions do for you? watch our video(Right click and "Save Target As.." to download) Adopt-A-Family

This outreach is a "Grace Original!"
As a church family, we love to support families in need within our community. Each year, we receive a list of families in need in our area and we "adopt" them!
Here is how: At Easter time, we provide a family dinner, Easter baskets for each child, which includes an outfit.
In late July, we begin a three week long drive to provide children in our community with back-to-school supplies. We began a partnership with FANG (FishHawk Area Networking Group) to enlist the aid of our neighbors to make this drive even more successful! No child should have to go to school without the supplies necessary for success!
We provide Thanksgiving dinners by collecting the items necessary for them to make dinner, including gift certificates for turkeys. In 2003, we began partnering with Kash 'n Karry and the community to help extend this outreach to even more families.
At Christmas time, we provide families with all the ingredients necessary for them to make Christmas dinner, as well as Christmas presents for each child in that family.

Habitat for Humanity

What is Habitat for Humanity, you ask?
Habitat brings families in need together with volunteers and resources to build decent, affordable housing. It is a Christian organization that welcomes volunteers from all faiths who are committed to Habitat's goal of eliminating poverty housing. Churches are primary partners in Habitat's work as members put their faith into action!

Culinary Comforts

"To serve our family in Christ with love, prayers and delicious meals."
The members of Grace love to take care of each other, and one way we strive to do so is with our Culinary Comforts ministry. Grace offers a very special opportunity to help out those in need in our church family. By signing up for Culinary Comforts, you will experience a wonderful gift in being able to prepare and deliver a meal to a family who has been blessed by the birth of a new child, who is ill or taking care of someone ill, or has experienced the loss of a loved one. Be blessed by the joy of helping those in need.

Brandon Care Pregnancy Center

The Brandon Care Pregnancy Center is right here in our community and it is a wonderful center that provides many services and assistance to women who are pregnant and without a support system. The Brandon Care Pregnancy Center freely gives unconditional love, compassionate counseling, and confidentiality, as well as physical, emotional, and spiritual support. Grace supports the BCPC by collecting and donating any and all baby items directly to the center. The BCPC has also opened a not-for-profit thrift store called "Bountiful Blessings" that takes any and all types of household items as donations and all proceeds benefit the BCPC. Volunteers are needed at the thrift store as well, for the cleaning and organization of incoming donations. The opportunities for you to get involved are endless.

Adopt-A-Road

We have adopted the one-mile stretch of Lithia-Pinecrest Rd. in front of our church building site, and four times a year we gather to remove all litter and recyclables from the roadside. Since being good stewards of our God given resources is our responsibility, we believe we can set a good example by first making a difference in our own church neighborhood. Members and friends are invited to join this work fellowship each quarter. We are strong advocates for God's creation.

Adopt-A-Pet Shelter

To help teach how God cares for all living creatures, our Children of Grace (along with the Missions Ministry) has partnered with Hillsborough County Animal Services to help care for the puppies and kittens that are in their shelter. Our children collect needed puppy and kitten items (i.e. toys, food, leashes, collars) and donates them to the shelter.

Volunteers of America

Volunteers of America of Florida is a Christian, non-profit agency that provides housing and services to approximately 2,000 homeless individuals each year. As part of its outreach services, that agency takes a mobile service center across the state to encampments, derelicts boats, and other isolated locations where homeless people congregate. Our contributions of hotel or sample-sized soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, pocket combs, disposable razors and similar items can make a difference. This good faith effort is an effective demonstration of our desire for them to live better lives.

At Grace, we're serious about helping people grow in their faith. That's why we offer a series of classes designed to lead participants from membership to maturity to ministry involvement.

Grace 101: Church Membership - Our membership class, held quarterly, focuses on a commitment to Christ and His church. Participants are led through an exploration of Grace's statements (mission and vision), strategy (plan for ministry), and structure (how one can help). Please see our monthly event calendar for our next class scheduled.

Grace 201: The Habits of a Maturing Faith - Grace 201 helps us explore healthy faith habits and apply them to our daily lives.

Grace 301: Discovering My Gifts For Ministry - Using a spiritual gifts resource, this class helps participants explore how they can best use their giftedness to serve God.

At Grace Community we recognize that many passages from the bible outline what the Church is to be and do. However, there are two statements by Jesus that summarize it all: The Great Commandment and The Great Commission. These two commands summarize the purpose for our Church.

The Great Commandment
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind... Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matthew 22:37-40)

The Great Commission
"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and
of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20)

In an effort to fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission we have further defined these commands by creating 5 key purpose areas. Our 5 purpose areas were created to establish defined/measurable areas of focus that will ensure that Grace Community is fulfilling God's Purpose until he returns. Outreach: "Go and make disciples" God wants me to be a messenger of His love. Outreach's role is to focus on the Community. The Community can be defined as the unchurched living within driving distance of Grace Community.Worship: "Love the Lord with all your heart" God wants me to be a magnifier of His name. Worship's role is to focus programs around the Crowd. The crowd is defined as everyone that shows up on Sunday morning for service.Fellowship: "Baptizing them" God wants me to be a member of His family. Fellowship focuses on the Congregation. The Congregation is the group of official members of Grace Community.Discipleship: "Teaching them to obey" God wants me to be a model of His character. Discipleship focuses on the Committed followers of Christ. The Committed are people within our Church who are godly and growing-people who are serious about their faith-who for one reason or another are not currently serving in a ministry of our Church.Service: "Love your neighbor as yourself" God wants me to be a minister of His grace. Service is focused on the Core. The Core are the dedicated minority of workers and leaders, those who are committed to ministering to others.

If you thought Jonah was swallowed by a whale while on a fishing trip, perhaps you should consider signing up for the Disciple I Bible study. Even if you know Jonah's story, Disciple I is a great way to learn more about God's word and enjoy good Christian fellowship at the same time. Disciple I is a 34 week course of study which traces God's relationship with mankind from Genesis to Revelation and how that personal relationship is alive today. The class will meet once a week for 2 ½ hours. Weekly homework will include about 2 - 3 hours of reading per week (around 30 minutes per night). During the weekly meeting, directed discussion will help everyone (even the leader!) come to a better understanding of how God works in our lives.

Those individuals who have completed Disciple I and are interested in continuing their Discipleship studies can sign up for a Disciple II, III, or IV class.

Interested in signing up for a class, please contact Steve and Wanda Quiggle at 684-3332 or disciple@gracecommunityumc.org

Jacobs Army - Jacobs Army

Inspired by Jacob Duckworth.

"God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them
To help each other, passing on to others God's many kinds of blessings."
1 PETER 4:10

In starting this group called Jacob's Army, we are hoping to give assistance to those in need in our Church family. Circumstances such as family health problems or injury can make the small tasks and chores of everyday life difficult to achieve. We are looking now for two things, people willing to volunteer some of their time to helping as a part of Jacob's Army. Secondly we need everybody to know that this is available to everyone. We all understand that sometimes pride can stop us for asking for or admitting we need help. This service will be under the control of one e mail address and the information will be kept confidential, the minimum amount of people will be dispatched to assist.

I urge anyone in need of help or if you know anybody in need make contact so that you can attend to the more urgent things in your life.

Remember Jacob's short life was filled with strength, courage and constantly thinking of others. He fulfilled God's purpose for him and now God is giving us the opportunity to use that inspiration.

"Never tell your neighbors to wait until tomorrow if you can help them now"
PROVERBS 3:28

For assistance email us at: jacobsarmy@gracecommunityumc.org or see Ron Frewin

However, as it is written, no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him. (1 Corinthians 2:9) Sometimes it is good to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, and focus on something really important - the plans God has for each of us.

Women of Faith Conference - Held every November in Orlando, this is an amazing opportunity to deepen your faith and build closer friendships with other amazing Women of Grace.

Beth Moore Conferences - Beth Moore Bible studies are an opportunity to go very deep in your faith. Hearing her live is a life-changing event. Her conferences provide a great opportunity for a weekend of praise and worship with other women.

In the fall of 1999, a group of young couples started Grace Community United Methodist Church at FishHawk as a place where people really care about one another, a safe haven where children and youth can grow together to fulfill the promise they hold, a community where adults can share their lives and stories with each other. At Grace Community, we want you to experience that kind of place. A place where you can grow friendships, family, and faith. A place where you and your family can experience God in the message and music of uplifting worship. You are important to God - and to us!

As a new community of faith, weekly reaching new people, we continue to be committed to our vision: Helping each person grow spiritually. That vision guides everything we do, from how we worship to how we try to care for one another. Many churches say, "Discover the difference;" we think you'll feel the difference, the difference that positive messages and loving relationships make in your life.
